Quirk Theatre
Quirk make great theatre for all generations. Theatre that inspires, amazes, educates and entertains. They have built up a loyal following of family audiences and every year thousands of people come to see their Christmas shows.
We have been working with Quirk since 2015, creating show trailers, onstage video, photography and more. You can see a sample of some of this work below.
Dayzee and the World of Tomorrow
Dayzee and her dad live in the not-so-far-off-future, a magical future where bicycles fly, flies talk and mangrove forests sing. Future Tourism is a booming business and the wormhole Dayzee discovered in her Dad‘s Pigbat shed has come in very, very handy. Of course, visitors from the past do have to get their memories wiped before returning home (to avoid a catastrophic rift in space time), but that doesn‘t seem to be putting them off. The future is very cool… But when a stowaway from 2024 misses the last shuttle home. Dayzee finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime!
We made two trailers for this production, as well as digital big screen animated posters and an inflight safety video for the time capsule that started off the show!
Making Mary
This short documentary tells the story of how Quirk – a theatre company making socially conscious work for children – stepped into the world of publishing. To accompany their 2023 Christmas show they created a beautiful children’s book; Mary the Pigeon Who Never Gave Up.
The film explores the story behind the book from the writing and artwork to the final printing.
Mary the Pigeon Who Never Gave Up
High above the English channel a small bird battles against the wind. Visually beautiful, heartfelt and uproariously funny, Quirk Theatre return for their 19th Christmas show – and this one is set to be their best yet!
Mary tells the astonishing and true story of one very special local pigeon, who flew top secret messages home from France in World War 2.
The Velveteen Rabbit
It’s Christmas Day and presents are great (obvs). But Alice is growing up and sometimes she feels that her family hasn’t noticed. And this year, to make matters worse, she’s been given a toy rabbit and she’s expected to love it!
Join Alice and the Velveteen Rabbit on a heart warming adventure as they explore what it means to love and be loved.A magical portrayal of growing up, moving on and not letting go by Quirk Theatre, full of heart, hilarity and a sprinkling of the miraculous.
Rhia and the Tree of Lights
Rhia & The Tree of Lights followed the journey of a British-Indian girl living on the Jurassic Coast who comes across a dusty old box whilst preparing for her last Diwali in her childhood home. She makes exciting discoveries about her Grandma, who lived a rich, colourful life as an Earth Scientist and storyteller of ancient Indian tales!
We made trailers, social media content and this full length recording of Rhia and the Tree of Lights. This was important as it was at a time when Covid 19 was still having a strong effect and there was a real chance that shows would have to be cancelled. We created this to enable audiences to watch the show from home if necessary.
